Deadly Floods in Ibb Claim Lives of Child and Man, Sweep Away Vehicles in Tragic Scenes

Heavy rainfall in the central Yemeni province of Ibb has led to a series of tragic incidents, claiming the lives of a child and a man, while also causing material damage as floodwaters swept away numerous vehicles.

Local sources and residents reported that a child died from electric shock while collecting plastic bottles in Al-Rasheed neighborhood in the Al-Sabal area, west of Ibb city. In a separate incident, a man drowned after his car was swept away by the floods near Al-Majd School on one of the city’s main streets.

The body of the driver has not yet been recovered, though he is presumed dead.

In another tragic case, a minibus was swept away by floods behind Al-Badr Hospital in Ibb city, adding to the suffering of local residents, who frequently face such disasters during the rainy season.

The city of Ibb witnessed torrential rain that triggered massive flooding, which carried away debris and vehicles from the dirt roads surrounding the city center onto the main asphalt streets. This caused significant traffic disruption and widespread damage across several areas.

These incidents highlight the recurring dangers posed by seasonal rains and floods in Ibb, underscoring the urgent need for improved infrastructure and proactive measures to prevent further loss of life and property.
