Yemeni Foreign Minister Informs Iraq that Information Minister’s Statements Do Not Represent the Government

Yemen Monitor/Antalya/Special:

The Yemeni Foreign Minister apologized to his Iraqi counterpart for previous statements made by the Yemeni Information Minister regarding the Houthis’ activity in Iraq.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry said on Friday that Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met on Friday in Antalya with Yemeni Foreign Minister Shayea Mohsen al-Zindani.

It stated that al-Zindani clarified “at the beginning of the meeting that his request for the meeting came to clarify that the statements made by Information Minister Muammar al-Eryani on the X platform included inaccurate allegations in which he referred to the “ability of what he described as the terrorist Houthi militia to expand their activities in Iraq in coordination with Iraqi factions,” and do not express the position of the government and the presidency.”

Al-Zindani added that “it is impossible for any official position to be issued that harms Iraqi-Yemeni relations.”

According to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, views were also exchanged on regional issues and matters of common interest.

The report by the official Yemeni news agency did not mention the official Yemeni apology.
