Aden Traffic Police Resume Field Work and Demand Accountability for Attackers of Their Director

The General Directorate of Traffic Police in the interim capital, Aden, announced today, Saturday, the resumption of field work for its personnel after a temporary suspension in protest against the assault on the Director of Traffic Police, Brigadier General Adnan al-Qala’a, and his escorts in the Al-Arish area last Thursday afternoon.
In an official statement, the police affirmed that the decision to return to the field comes in response to the suffering of citizens due to traffic congestion, while the legal pursuit of the case continues. It stressed its commitment to holding the perpetrators accountable and its rejection of any solutions outside the framework of the law.
The Traffic Police appreciated the solidarity shown by official and community entities, which expressed their condemnation of the incident, considering that this reflects society’s awareness of the importance of respecting the law and the sovereignty of security institutions.
Brigadier General Adnan al-Qala’a was subjected to assault and temporary detention by armed formations at a security checkpoint, which sparked widespread condemnation in official and public institution.
Against the backdrop of the incident, the Traffic Police announced a general strike that included the southern governorates, which lasted until this Saturday morning, demanding full redress for members of the security services and the provision of a safe environment that guarantees the performance of their duties without threat.
