Hadramout Tribal Gathering Declaration Demands “Autonomy”

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The public meeting held today, Saturday, in Hadramout Governorate—called for by the Hadramout Tribal Alliance—demanded that the governorate be granted autonomous governance and called for swift implementation.
In a statement issued by the gathering, the demand for autonomy was described as “the minimum rightful entitlement for Hadramout,” while firmly rejecting “any return to dominance by other parties in any form.”
The statement added: “We address the international community, particularly our brothers in Saudi Arabia, to respond to the will of the Hadrami people and take urgent steps toward achieving autonomy.”
It continued: “Defending our land and protecting ourselves is a right guaranteed to us, and this includes adequately recruiting the sons of Hadramout.”
Since Friday evening, tribes from across Hadramout have been converging on the Hadramout Plateau in response to a call by Sheikh Amr bin Habrish. The expanded tribal meeting was convened as part of efforts to assert control over their land and reclaim their usurped rights.
The Hadramout Tribal Alliance had previously issued a statement inviting all local and international media outlets, as well as public opinion leaders, to attend and document this significant historic event.
The Alliance stressed the importance of unity among all Hadrami people—regardless of political, regional, or ideological affiliations—to affirm Hadramout’s independent decision-making and their commitment to legitimate rights, foremost among them the right to self-governance.
It also noted that all preparations and arrangements by the preparatory committee for the meeting had been completed, affirming that the gathering site is secured and delegations will be received in an organized manner. The Alliance urged media outlets to rely on its official platforms for information and avoid falling for incitement or misinformation campaigns.
