Abyan Security Announces Dismantling of Drug Gang in Zinjibar, the Provincial Capital

Security forces in Abyan Governorate (southern Yemen) announced the arrest of a gang involved in the promotion and sale of drugs (specifically hashish), following a precise surveillance operation carried out in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department.

In a statement, Zinjibar Police said the operation was launched after verifying information received in a tip-off. Authorities arrested the suspect (initials: Y.A.M.A), who, during interrogation, admitted to possessing a quantity of hashish at his residence. Security forces then raided the house and found 2.25 kilograms of hashish, along with a scale used for selling the drug.

During investigation, the suspect revealed the identity of an accomplice. Security units managed to apprehend this second individual, who confessed to his involvement and disclosed the names of two other individuals connected to the case. These additional suspects were also arrested shortly thereafter.

Following the completion of the preliminary investigation, the suspects and the seized items were handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Department in Abyan Security, in preparation for completing legal procedures and referring the case to the competent prosecutor’s office.
