Washington Halts Fuel Unloading Permits at Houthi Ports Starting Friday

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Following its designation as a terrorist organization, the US will end, starting on Friday, April 4th, the temporary license that had allowed the unloading of refined oil shipments at ports controlled by the Houthi group in western Yemen, according to a statement issued by the US Treasury Department.
The ministry indicated that the decision completely prohibits the unloading of any incoming shipments after the specified date, while stipulating that the unloaded products must have been transported by sea before March 5th.
The decision also reactivates the ban on exporting or reselling fuel from Yemen and prohibits the transfer of funds to Houthi-affiliated entities, except for taxes or government services.
This measure comes as a continuation of the strict US sanctions imposed by Washington on the group at the beginning of last March, after its inclusion in the lists of terrorist organizations, as part of international pressure to cut off funding for Houthi military activities.
