Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, announced that the liberation of the capital, Sanaa, and other areas under the control of the Houthi group is now “closer than ever before.”
In a speech on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the Yemeni president pointed to growing signs of victory with the strengthening of national solidarity and regional support.
Al-Alimi extended his greetings to the Yemeni people on the occasion of Eid, expressing his hope that the next celebration would come with the achievement of peace and the restoration of state institutions. He emphasized that strengthening national unity and building a strong republican alliance are crucial factors in ending the conflict and rebuilding the state on fair foundations.
He highlighted the Presidential Leadership Council’s commitment, since its formation in April 2022, to reforming security and military institutions and improving living conditions despite economic challenges resulting from attacks on oil facilities.
He noted a comprehensive strategy to address key issues, including enhancing government revenues and organizing institutional work in the temporary capital, Aden.
In a related context, he acknowledged the support provided by Saudi Arabia and the UAE within the framework of the Coalition Supporting Legitimacy, considering this cooperation essential in strengthening Yemen’s international stance and confronting military escalations in the Red Sea.
Al-Alimi held the Houthi group responsible for the worsening humanitarian and economic crisis, stating that targeting international shipping and escalating violence threaten regional stability. He called on the international community to support the Yemeni government in its efforts to reclaim occupied areas and halt Iranian interventions.
He affirmed that achieving lasting stability requires addressing the root causes of the crisis, particularly the coup against legitimacy. He expressed confidence in the will of the Yemeni people and their ability to overcome the consequences of the conflict and build a future that fulfills their legitimate aspirations for justice and political participation.
