White House in Security Scandal After Accidentally Sending Yemen War Plans to Journalist

Yemen Monitor / Washington, D.C.
In a shocking security breach, senior members of Donald Trump’s administration mistakenly included a journalist in a private Signal chat discussing classified military plans for U.S. strikes on Houthi forces in Yemen.

The error, first reported by The Atlantic’s editor Jeffrey Goldberg, revealed that top officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, were discussing sensitive military operations on an unsecured messaging platform.

The blunder has sparked outrage and calls for an investigation, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer labeling it “one of the most stunning breaches of military intelligence in recent history.” The White House has since acknowledged the mistake but downplayed its significance, insisting there was no threat to national security.

The revelation has raised concerns over the administration’s handling of intelligence, particularly as officials involved have previously criticized others, including Hillary Clinton, for alleged mishandling of classified information.

The incident also exposed internal debates over U.S. involvement in Yemen, with some officials expressing reluctance about aiding European allies.
The breach has intensified scrutiny over the Trump administration’s security protocols, with lawmakers demanding immediate hearings on how such a critical lapse occurred.
