U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz announced on Tuesday that he takes “full responsibility” for the serious security breach that occurred after a journalist was mistakenly added to a highly classified messaging group where senior officials discussed launching strikes against the Houthis in Yemen.
In his first interview since the scandal broke, Waltz told Fox News, “I take full responsibility. I was the one who created this group” on the Signal messaging app. He suggested that he may have mistakenly saved the journalist’s phone number, thinking it belonged to someone else.
