Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Mokha Center for Strategic Studies has released its fourth annual report for 2024, providing a comprehensive analysis of political, economic, and security developments in Yemen. The report aims to present a clear picture of the country’s situation amid increasing challenges, with a focus on forecasting future scenarios.

The report covers a wide range of issues, including political conditions and foreign relations, economic challenges and sustainable development, as well as military and security movements. It also examines human rights issues, education, environmental changes, and the conditions of women and children.

Utilizing a meticulous analytical methodology based on reliable data, the report serves as a crucial resource for decision-makers, researchers, and journalists following Yemeni affairs. It highlights the political deadlock within the Presidential Leadership Council, which suffers from internal disputes, in addition to escalating tensions between the government and the Southern Transitional Council(STC).

Regarding the Houthi group, the report emphasizes its efforts to expand regional influence by escalating military activities in the Red Sea. It also documents arrests and repression targeting opposition figures, particularly those working in civil society organizations.

Economically, the report records a decline in the local currency’s value and an increasing reliance on external aid, particularly from Saudi Arabia. It also notes rising inflation and soaring prices of essential goods, negatively impacting citizens’ daily lives.

On the military front, the report details tensions between government forces and the STC, along with increasing Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, further complicating the security situation. It points to growing security threats such as terrorist attacks and organized crime.

From a humanitarian perspective, the report affirms that Yemen’s crisis remains among the most severe globally, with worsening food insecurity and ongoing human rights violations.

The report concludes with recommendations, including immediate economic reforms, strengthening diplomacy to resolve political deadlock, and enhancing humanitarian response efforts to alleviate food and health crises.
