Egyptian Foreign Minister Emphasizes the Importance of Ensuring Freedom of Navigation in the Red Sea

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty stated that he agreed with Kaya Kallas, the European Foreign Policy official, on the importance of intensifying cooperation and coordination in the Red Sea region, and ensuring the freedom of international navigation and its return to normal rates.
This came during a press conference with the European Foreign Policy official in Cairo.
Abdel-Aty added: “We also discussed the situation in the Horn of Africa region, and I stressed the great importance of the Egyptian water security issue.”
Since October 2023, the Houthis have launched dozens of missile attacks on Israel and ships they accused of being linked to it, in support of the Palestinians in Gaza.
The attacks of the Iranian-backed Houthis stopped with the start of the ceasefire in Gaza on January 19, but they resumed them with the violation of the ceasefire and vowed to intensify them as long as “Israel” continued its strikes on the devastated sector.
For more than a week, the US has been carrying out strikes on Houthi strongholds, the first since Donald Trump took office on January 20th.
