Newspaper: Iranian Pressure Forces Houthi Group to Close its Headquarters in Baghdad

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported on Saturday that the armed Houthi group was forced to evacuate its headquarters in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, following a warning message from Iran and a consensus within the “Coordination Framework” alliance to avoid escalation with the Americans.

The newspaper quoted reliable sources as saying that Ismail Qaani, the commander of the “Quds Force” of the “Revolutionary Guard,” warned leaders of Iraqi factions that “attacks by the US army against facilities belonging to the Houthi group could quickly rebound on Baghdad.” He demanded “not to carry out any military activity during this sensitive stage.”

In a simultaneous development, the sources said that the “Houthi” group evacuated a strategic headquarters in a high-end neighborhood in central Baghdad, and may close two other headquarters after pressure from the “Coordination Framework.”

In Tehran, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei disavowed Tehran’s “proxies” in the region, describing them as “independent forces defending themselves,” while threatening the US with a “resounding slap if it initiates any action” against his country.
