Head of the Hadramout Tribes Alliance and Saudi Defense Minister Discuss Developments in the Yemeni Governorate

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Houthi group has threatened Saudi Arabia with the consequences of “any hostile steps against the banking sector” following the announcement by the Yemeni Central Bank that 8 commercial banks in Houthi-controlled areas intend to relocate their headquarters from Sana’a, which is under the group’s control, to Aden, the temporary capital of the internationally recognized government.
Houthi media quoted the Sana’a-based central bank affiliated with the group as saying that “Saudi Arabia will bear the consequences of any hostile steps against the banking sector by the Yemeni government or the US.”
The Houthis considered “any hostile activity targeting Yemeni banks located under the group’s control a clear breach of the truce agreement and a direct reversal of all previous understandings.”
The armed group accused Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the US of being behind the threat to Yemeni banks under their control, claiming it “comes within the framework of targeting the national economy.”
In the middle of this month, the Yemeni Central Bank said it had received notifications from commercial banks in Houthi-held Sana’a to move their headquarters and operations to the city of Aden, the country’s temporary capital, following the US’ designation of the Houthis as a terrorist group.
