Houthis Announce New Attack on Aircraft Carrier as U.S. Military Confirms Ongoing Operations

Yemen Monitor / Sana’a / Exclusive:
The Houthi armed group announced early Wednesday that it had launched a new attack targeting the U.S. aircraft carrier Harry Truman in the Red Sea. Meanwhile, the U.S. military confirmed that its operations against the group would continue.
The Houthi military spokesperson stated that the attack was carried out using several cruise missiles and drones.
He claimed that the group had detected “hostile movements in the Red Sea in preparation for a large-scale airstrike on Yemen,” prompting it to launch a preemptive military operation.
He noted that the attack on the Harry Truman was the fourth of its kind within the past 72 hours, signaling an escalation of strikes against U.S. forces in the region.
U.S. Central Command posted on X that operations against the Houthis were ongoing and shared new images of airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas.
Sources told Yemen Monitor and Houthi-affiliated media that U.S. airstrikes targeted areas in the provinces of Marib, Saada, Hajjah, and Hodeidah on Tuesday night into Wednesday. These strikes are a continuation of attacks ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this week.
The escalation comes amid rising regional tensions between the US and Iran, which backs the Houthis. With Trump’s return to power, the Houthis have resumed attacks on ships linked to the Israeli occupation, which had been paused since mid-January. These attacks initially began in October 2023, following the outbreak of war in Gaza.
