Human Rights Concerns Over Risks to Abductees’ Lives in Houthi Prisons Due to Airstrikes

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Abductees’ Mothers Association issued an urgent appeal on Monday for the release of abductees held in Houthi prisons, amid escalating airstrikes on several governorates.

In a statement, the association expressed its concern regarding the conditions of abductees and detainees held by all parties, especially in light of the recent escalating airstrikes that have targeted a number of Yemeni governorates, which increases the risks to their lives and deepens their suffering and the suffering of their families.

It reported that their continued detention under these difficult circumstances exposes them to danger, constitutes a flagrant violation of human rights, and increases the fear of abductees and their families of a new tragedy similar to the bombing of the Community College in Dhamar, in which dozens of abductees held by the Houthi group were killed.

It directed a sincere humanitarian appeal on the occasion of the month of Ramadan to all responsible parties and decision-makers, demanding the immediate release of all abductees, detainees, and forcibly disappeared persons, and ensuring their safe return to their families.

It said that the continued abduction and detention of innocent people and exposing them to danger in these difficult circumstances contradicts all human values, and we hope that our call will receive an urgent response from all concerned parties.
