Pentagon: Our Goal Does Not Include Regime Change for the Houthis

Yemen Monitor/Washington/Special:
The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) said on Monday that it will continue to use overwhelming lethal force in Yemen against the Houthis until objectives are achieved there.
“We will continue to use overwhelming lethal force until we achieve our objectives,” said Sean Parnell, Pentagon spokesperson, during his first press briefing in this position.
He emphasized that the U.S. military strikes in Yemen “do not represent an endless attack,” adding that their goal “does not include regime change.”
This came hours after President Donald Trump threatened the Houthis that any subsequent attack or response from them would be met with great force, and there are no guarantees that the force would stop there.
Trump also threatened Iran with “severe consequences,” holding it responsible for any attack carried out by the Houthis.
In a post on the social media platform “Truth Social,” he said: “The hundreds of attacks carried out by the Houthis, evil and criminal gang elements based in Yemen, who are hated by the Yemeni people, originate from and are made by Iran.”
Trump emphasized that “any shot from the Houthis will from now on be seen as fired from Iran’s weapons and under its leadership, and Iran will be held accountable and will face the consequences, and those consequences will be severe!”
