IRGC Commander: Houthis Make Their Own Decisions

Yemen Monitor / Tehran / Exclusive:

The top commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responded to U.S. threats, stating that the Houthis are independent and make their own strategic and operational decisions.

Earlier on Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social platform:

“To all Houthi terrorists, your time is up, and your attacks must stop starting today. If they don’t, hellfire will rain down on you like never before!”

He added: “To Iran: Stop supporting the Houthi terrorists immediately!”

Speaking to state media, IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami warned:

“We caution our enemies that Iran will respond decisively and destructively if they carry out their threats.”

In a statement published by Iranian state media, the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the strikes on Yemen, calling them a “blatant violation of the principles of the UN Charter and the fundamental rules of international law.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that the U.S. has no authority or right to dictate Iran’s foreign policy. In a post on “X” on Sunday morning, he wrote:

“Stop supporting genocide and Israeli terrorism. Stop the killing of the Yemeni people.”

Washington has already ramped up sanctions pressure on Iran, aiming to push Tehran into negotiations over its nuclear program. The key question regional analysts are now asking is whether Trump will resort to military action against Iran—possibly under pressure from Israel.
