Marib: Death Of 10 Children In 2 Months Due To Measles

An epidemiological surveillance report from the Health Office in Marib province (eastern Yemen) confirmed the death of 10 children due to measles since the beginning of 2025.

Dr. Abdo Nasher, Director of the Epidemiological Surveillance Department, indicated that since the start of 2025, a total of 663 suspected measles cases have been recorded, of which 70 were confirmed through laboratory testing at the central laboratory, while 10 children have died from the disease.

In this context, Nabil Al-Shara’abi and Aziz Al-Baihany, supervisors of the Rapid Response Teams in the province, confirmed that the teams are working on the ground to identify and investigate infected cases. They also highlighted the efforts of health education volunteers in raising awareness about the importance of disease prevention through vaccination.

Officials urged parents to report suspected cases showing symptoms of fever and rash as early as possible and to ensure that affected children are taken to the nearest health facility promptly.

Ahmed Al-Roqi, the Immunization Coordinator in the province, emphasized the importance of vaccinating children aged six months to five years with booster doses. He also assured that vaccines are available for free at all health facilities during official working hours.
