Houthi Leader Attacks Syrian Forces and Their Operation on the Coast

Yemen Monitor/Sana’a/Special:

The Houthi leader, Abdulmalik al-Houthi, attacked on Sunday the Syrian forces conducting a military operation on the country’s coast to pursue remnants of the deposed Bashar al-Assad regime.

The Houthi leader described the Syrian forces as “takfiri groups committing crimes and atrocities.”

He said, “What is happening reveals the insistence of the takfiri groups to continue their criminal and brutal behavior in killing innocent people with the most heinous forms of killing and extermination.”

He added that the parties supporting the Syrian forces financially, militarily, and politically “share responsibility with the takfiri groups.”

Earlier on Sunday, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa formed an independent commission of inquiry into the causes and motives of the events on the Syrian coast.

Hundreds of Syrian soldiers have been killed in organized attacks by remnants of the former regime, who are accused of committing crimes against humanity since 2011. Security forces have also been accused of committing violations in those predominantly Alawite areas.

On Sunday, Syria’s neighboring countries affirmed their support for the Syrian government and agreed to establish an operations room to confront the “ISIS” terrorist organization, while condemning Israeli attacks on the Arab country.

This came in a press conference in the capital Amman, which included the foreign ministers of Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon, at the conclusion of the first meeting of the Syria and Neighboring Countries group.
