Houthi Leader Threatens to Resume Maritime Operations

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi threatened on Friday evening to resume his group’s maritime attacks against commercial vessels.

In a televised speech, al-Houthi stated: “We are giving the mediators 4 days to continue their efforts. If ‘Israel’ continues to prevent aid from reaching Gaza after these 4 days, we will resume our maritime operations against it.”

Regarding the U.S. stance, al-Houthi said: “Trump administration is more honest and transparent compared to the Biden administration, which used deception to provide all forms of assistance to the Israeli enemy. However, Trump administration is straightforward and speaks openly, and its team consists of prominent Zionists who clearly affirm their allegiance to Zionism.”

These statements come after weeks of relative calm in the Red Sea, following a ceasefire agreement between the Israeli occupation and Hamas.

The remarks also come just days after the U.S. administration’s decision to designate the Houthi group as a “terrorist organization” came into effect, along with the initiation of international sanctions against senior leaders of the group.
