A Houthi Leader Threatens Comprehensive War on US Interests

Yemen Monitor/Sana’a/Special:
A leader in the Houthi group threatened the US on Monday with a comprehensive war against American interests in the region, “if the war in the Gaza Strip returns.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refuses to enter into the second phase of negotiations as stipulated in the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and threatens to resume the war.
Houthi leader Hazem Al-Assad said that the US may also be targeted because of its support for Israel during the conflict.
Al-Assad said, “If the war in Gaza returns, we are ready for a comprehensive war against American interests in the region if the US tries to defend Israel or support its aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza or attack our country.”
Since November 2023, the Iranian-backed Houthis have launched missile and drone attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, targeting US, Israeli, and British ships. The attacks stopped with the announcement of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
US interests in the region include military bases and commercial facilities in the Gulf states, and shipping vessels crossing the Red Sea. On the third day of his term, US President Donald Trump classified the Houthis on the terror list.
