The city of Mukalla, the capital of Hadramout Governorate, witnessed widespread protests in recent hours due to the frequent interruptions in electricity service.
A local source said that hundreds of Mukalla youth took to the streets on Saturday evening to denounce the frequent power outages and the deterioration of the service level, amidst complete official’s silence .
The protesters demanded that radical solutions be found to the electricity crisis, which has become a threat to the lives of residents, especially with the sharp rise in temperatures.
The demonstrators expressed their strong dissatisfaction with the officials’ disregard for their suffering and their failure to take any tangible measures to improve the basic services that are witnessing a continuous deterioration in the city.
