Report: 98 Detainees Die After Being Injected with Poisonous Substances in Houthi Prisons

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Yemeni Organization for Prisoners and Detainees reported the death of 98 detainees days after their release from Houthi group prisons, following their injection with poisonous substances.
The organization clarified in its report that these cases were documented over eight years, while it confirmed that the Houthi group committed 17,600 cases of physical torture in its prisons, in addition to more than two thousand cases of enforced disappearance.
The organization pointed out that the symposium organized by the Humanitarian Rights League in Geneva addressed the ongoing violations and torture methods targeting detainees and disappeared persons in Houthi prisons.
The symposium also reviewed death sentences inside and outside the walls of Houthi group prisons and their future impact on freedom and democracy.
On February 18, 2025, human rights sources reported the death of detainee “Jamal Ahmed Raweh Qaed Mohsen Al-Mahmoudi” 11 days after his release from Houthi group prisons.
Detainee “Mohammed Ali Al-Naseem” also died a few days after his release from Houthi prisons, following the deterioration of his health due to severe physical and psychological torture.
