Yemen Ministry of Interior: Four Killed and Injured in Houthi Landmine Explosion West of Taiz

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Yemeni Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday that two people were killed and two others injured in a Houthi landmine explosion in Taiz Governorate, southwestern Yemen.

Maqbanah police stated that the deceased were “Fathi Abdulraqib Al-Hemairi and Abdulnour Mohammed Hail, while two others, Aqeel Ali Al-Silani and Daif Allah Ahmed Qassem, were seriously injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.”

They pointed out that this incident adds to the record of Houthi crimes against the people of the district and Yemen in general.

Earlier, the German news agency DPA quoted a Yemeni military source as saying that “two Yemeni army personnel were killed in a Houthi landmine explosion on Maqbanah front, while two other soldiers were also injured in the explosion.”

Civilians have repeatedly been killed and injured by landmine explosions on several Yemeni fronts, most notably in the governorates of Taiz and Hodeidah.

Government statistics indicated that the number of mines planted by the Houthis in Yemen has reached about two million, resulting in the death and injury of thousands over the past 10 years.
