Taiz: Al-Islah Party Calls for Urgent Measures to Improve Economic Conditions

Al-Islah Party in Taiz Governorate has called on the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to take urgent measures to improve economic conditions.

In a statement, the party congratulated the people of Taiz and the entire Yemeni population on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, emphasizing that the governorate has continued its steadfastness for a decade in the face of the Houthi group, making significant sacrifices for the sake of dignity and the nation.

The statement affirmed that Taiz Governorate, like other Yemeni governorates, stands united with all free people to restore the state and end the coup.

It pointed to the difficult living conditions faced by citizens due to currency collapse and rising prices, which have affected all families, employees, and workers, stressing the need for the political leadership to bear its national responsibilities in addressing this crisis, alongside its military battle against the Iranian-backed Houthi project.

The Yemeni Islah Gathering reiterated its commitment to continuing the struggle to restore the state and end the coup, noting that strengthening the popular role requires the political leadership to take strategic steps to alleviate the suffering of citizens.

The statement also emphasized several demands, including rationalizing spending in the local authority, enhancing economic opportunities in the governorate, particularly in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, and the Mocha port and airport, in addition to improving basic services such as water, electricity, and roads, combating corruption, and referring those involved to the Public Funds Prosecution in accordance with the reports of the Central Organization for Control and Auditing.

Al-Islah also called for the formation of a committee comprising representatives of the private sector, civil society organizations, Taiz University, trade unions, and relevant authorities to study possible solutions to the teachers’ issue, stressing the importance of finding urgent solutions to alleviate the suffering of state employees, especially teachers.

The statement called on businesspeople and merchants to enhance social solidarity during the holy month to help poor families, stressing the need for unity among the governorate’s residents to face economic and security challenges and enhance unity and cooperation for the benefit of Taiz and Yemen in general.

In conclusion, Al-Islah stressed the importance of recognizing the historical moment the country is going through and the need to raise awareness and solidarity to overcome the current challenges, calling for continued efforts to restore the state and end the Houthi coup.
