Yemen Ministry of Interior Announces Seizure of 70 Migrants Attempting to Enter the Country Illegally

The Yemeni Interior Ministry announced on Saturday the seizure of a boat carrying 70 illegal migrants of various African nationalities while they were trying to enter the country illegally through the Al-Shujaira coast.
The Security Media Center of the Ministry of Interior quoted security services in Shabwa Governorate (eastern country) as saying, “The boat, called “Al-Ostoura” (The Legend), was led by three people of Somali nationality, and carried 30 men from the Horn of Africa, and 40 others of Somali and Ethiopian nationalities.”
The directorate’s police were notified, who coordinated with the Maritime Brigade and the Coast Guard, in addition to the International Organization for Migration, to take the necessary measures against the illegal migrants.
According to statistics issued by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the number of African migrants arriving in Yemen during the past year 2024 reached 60,897 migrants.
