Iran Rejects Claims of Arming Houthis in Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Iran strongly rejected allegations on sending military shipment to Yemen as ‘baseless’.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei said media reports on confiscation of Iranian-built military weapons heading to Yemen are ‘not true’.
He said making the accusations come in line with creating a negative and seditious atmosphere against the Islamic Republic of Iran consequent with US officials’ visit to the region.
He pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no military presence in Yemen, and the weapons in this country have nothing to do with the Islamic Republic.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed that a shipment contained Iranian weapon components, drones, and communications gear that was destined for Yemeni Houthis through Red Sea.
In a post on its X account, CENTCOM published pictures of the weapons that had been confiscated.
It commented “Congratulations to the Coast Guard of the legitimate government of Yemen on their interdiction of Iranian advanced weapon components, drones, and communications gear that was destined for the Iranian backed Houthi terrorists”.
This incident reinforces suspicions of Iranian support for the Houthis, who have increased regional attacks since October 2023, targeting Israel and commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
