CENTCOM: Yemeni Government Had Thwarted An Attempt To Smuggle Iranian Weapons To The Houthis

Yemen monitor/Newsroom:
The Yemeni government, with US assistance, intercepted an Iranian shipment of advanced weapons bound for Houthi rebels on February 12th, according to a statement released by US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Monday.
In a post on its X account, CENTCOM published pictures of the weapons that had been confiscated.
It commented “Congratulations to the Coast Guard of the legitimate government of Yemen on their interdiction of Iranian advanced weapon components, drones, and communications gear that was destined for the Iranian backed Houthi terrorists”.
CENTCOM added that the smuggled goods, discovered on a dhow in the Red Sea, included cruise missile components, drone parts, radar systems, a jamming system, and advanced communication equipment.
For its part, Iran denies arming the Houthis and Tehran provided the Houthis in Yemen with ballistic capabilities.
This incident reinforces suspicions of Iranian support for the Houthis, who have increased regional attacks since October 2023, targeting Israel and commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
