Protests in Abyan, Southern Yemen, Denouncing Corruption and the Collapse of Services

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Various areas of Abyan Governorate in southern Yemen witnessed demonstrations and protests on Saturday, denouncing the deteriorating services, the spread of corruption, and the collapse of the currency.
News sources said that “dozens gathered in the districts of Al-Wadi’a, Mudiya, and Al-Mahfad in Abyan Governorate in angry marches demanding the departure of the coalition, the legitimate government, and the Southern Transitional Council (STC).”
The participants condemned the deteriorating living and economic conditions of the residents, which have negatively affected the Yemenis.
The participants in the marches affirmed that the stripping of the sovereign decision of the Yemeni government has caused the exacerbation of the suffering of the Yemeni people, holding the legitimate government and the STC responsible for the continuation of the humanitarian crisis and the collapse of basic services.
Last Friday, the city of Zinjibar, the capital of the governorate, witnessed angry marches, during which protesters blocked roads, protesting the deteriorating living and service conditions, and the rapid collapse of the local currency against foreign currencies, which led to rising prices and exacerbated the suffering of citizens.
The protesters demanded that the Presidential Leadership Council, the legitimate government, and the STC develop urgent solutions to address this deteriorating service and living situation in all liberated governorates, stressing their rejection of any attempts to bargain or manipulate their demands under any circumstances.
