Coalition Incident Assessment Team: Coalition did not target the village of Sharafa Qaraha in Razih, Sa’ada

The Joint Incidents Assessment Team (JIAT) of the Arab Coalition in Yemen concluded that its forces did not target a house in Sharafa Qaraha village in Razih District, Sa’ada Governorate on April 15, 2020.
The team explained in a statement that “at approximately 5:30 PM on April 15, 2020, a house was hit by artillery fire from the border area, injuring (4) civilians and partially destroying the house in the village of (Sharafa Qaraha) in the district of (Razih) in the governorate of (Sa’ada).”
The team indicated that it conducted a search and investigation into the incident, and after reviewing all documents, including the firing records of the coalition’s surface units, satellite images, open sources, the rules of engagement of the coalition forces, the principles and provisions of international humanitarian law and its customary rules, and after evaluating the evidence; The joint team found that the village of (Sharafa Qaraha) is located in the western part of the (Razih) district in the (Sa’ada) governorate.
By studying the surface tasks carried out by the coalition forces on April 15, 2020, which is the date mentioned in the claim, the joint team found that the coalition forces did not carry out any firing using fire support weapons on the village of (Sharafa Qaraha).
The Incident Assessment Team drew attention to the fact that it searched open sources for what was mentioned in the claim, and no information was found about targeting a house with artillery fire on the village of (Sharafa Qaraha) in (Razih) district of (Sa’ada) governorate.
It concluded that it had concluded that the coalition forces did not target (a house) using artillery fire, in the village of (Sharafa Qaraha)in (Sa’ada) governorate on April 15, 2020, as stated in the claim.
