Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
A 25-year-old Yemeni-American youth was killed yesterday, Monday, by police in Louisiana.
The police said they have opened an investigation into the incident of the Yemeni-American youth’s death, following the shooting by an officer and a sheriff’s deputy of Ascension Parish.
The victim, who was killed outside a gas station, was identified as Abdul Rahman Al-Jabal, a resident of Gonzales.
According to the police, Ali “exited his vehicle carrying a handgun, and despite receiving repeated orders from the officers to drop the weapon, he fired into the air before pointing the weapon at the officers, prompting the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputy and a Gonzales Police officer to shoot at him.” He was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
However, Yemeni-American activists published a video clip showing the moment of the shooting, and confirm that the victim was not armed at the time of the incident, which contradicts the police account.
