Aden Electricity Announces Total Power Outage Due to Fuel Depletion

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Aden Electricity Corporation announced on Tuesday that the temporary capital will experience a total blackout of the electricity system at midnight due to the depletion of the fuel available to operate the presidential station, which is the main source of energy in the city.

The Corporation confirmed in a statement that there is no main load center such as the presidential station or Al-Mansoura station that prevents the use of solar plant generation, which means that the network will stop completely.

It pointed out that the power outage will affect all vital sectors, as hospitals and health facilities will be disrupted, water fields will stop, and commercial activities will be disrupted, which will double the suffering of citizens.

The Corporation stressed that it has done everything in its power in recent days to ensure the continuation of the service, in light of the scarcity of fuel, despite repeated appeals and letters to all concerned parties.

It said that the crisis has reached its peak, and what is happening today is a dangerous precedent in the history of Aden Electricity, appealing to all concerned parties to assume their national and humanitarian responsibilities and work to provide fuel urgently.
