Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate demanded protection for journalist “Abdulraqib Al-Hadyani” after three failed assassination attempts against him, in addition to his name being included in the wanted list of criminal cells.
The syndicate said in a statement issued on Tuesday that it followed “the trial session of the cells accused of assassination crimes and the pursuit of a number of individuals, including the martyred journalist Zaki Al-Saqldi, who was assassinated in Al-Dhale Governorate, and the confessions they made before the Criminal Court in Aden regarding the monitoring and pursuit of journalist Abdulraqib Al-Hadyani with the aim of assassinating him, shedding light on his suffering, who is still displaced and in hiding for fear of the monitoring and pursuit he has been subjected to for years.”
The syndicate affirmed its solidarity with Al-Hadyani, expressing its deep concern about the pursuit and threats the colleague is exposed to that endanger his life, especially after three failed assassination attempts he was subjected to, in addition to including his name in the wanted list of criminal cells.
The syndicate held the security authorities in the governorates of Aden and Al-Dhale, and the Yemeni government responsible for providing protection to Al-Hadyani and working to transfer him to a safe place and redressing the damage caused to his livelihood, work and stability.
The Journalists Syndicate renewed its call to all parties not to involve journalists in political conflicts, and to target them because of their opinions, positions and affiliations, and also demands that the concerned authorities take all deterrent measures against the enemies of the press, and those who violate freedom of opinion and expression, and the right to pluralism and diversity.
The syndicate called on all organizations concerned with freedom of opinion and expression to stand in solidarity with colleague Abdulraqib Al-Hadyani and to pressure to end his suffering and provide protection and safety for him and all members of his family.
