STC Calls on Presidential Leadership Council  and Government to Carry Out Their Duties from Aden

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) said on Thursday that the continued absence of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government is no longer acceptable, stressing the need to return to Aden (the country’s temporary capital).

The head of the Presidential Leadership Council and most government ministers recognized internationally reside in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, amid accusations against the STC of obstructing the work of the Presidential Council and the government from the city of Aden.

“The continued absence of the Leadership Council and the government increases the suffering of the people and leaves them to face their fate in light of the difficult economic and service conditions,” the STC presidency said in a meeting.

According to the council’s media, the STC presidency stressed the need for the Leadership Council and the government to return to Aden to carry out their duties and assume their responsibilities towards citizens.

Aden (the temporary capital of Yemen) is under the control of military and security formations affiliated with and loyal to the STC, which demands the secession of southern Yemen from the north.
