GCC Supports All Efforts to Find a Political Solution in Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Al-Bedaiwi, affirmed on Tuesday the GCC’s commitment to supporting all international and regional efforts, including those of the United Nations, to reach a comprehensive political solution to end the Yemeni crisis, in accordance with the three references.

The three references in Yemen are “the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution 1  2216.”

Al-Bedaiwi’s statement came during his meeting with the member of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Aidrous Al-Zubaidi, on the sidelines of the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum 2025, in Davos, Switzerland.

The two discussed joint efforts to support the political solution, to restore Yemen’s stability and development, and to achieve the prosperity and aspirations of the Yemeni people.

The discussion also touched on the latest developments in Yemen, including the “valuable efforts” exerted by Saudi Arabia and Oman to achieve peace in the country, and the importance of supporting these efforts, according to a GCC statement.

Al-Bedaiwi affirmed the GCC countries’ standing side by side with the Yemeni people in all circumstances, until Yemen is able to restore its security and stability and put it on the path of sustainable development, ensuring that the Yemeni people live with dignity, peace, and security.

Al-Bedaiwi renewed the GCC countries’ support for the efforts exerted by the Presidential Leadership Council to enhance security and stability in Yemen.

This comes amid efforts and movements led by the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, to resume peace talks between the Houthi group and the Yemeni government.
