Yemeni Army Downed a Houthi Drone West of Marib

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Yemeni government forces announced on Tuesday that they had shot down a Houthi attack drone heading towards military positions on the Kasara front, northwest of Marib Governorate (northern Yemen).

The Yemeni army’s media center stated that “the defenses of our armed forces shot down an attack drone launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia towards military positions on Al-Kasara front, northwest of Marib Governorate.”

On Monday, the Yemeni army announced that its forces had launched targeted strikes against the Houthis on several fronts in the northeast and south of the country.

The “September Net” website, the spokesman for the Yemeni Ministry of Defense, stated that “painful blows were dealt to the Iranian-backed Houthi militia by army forces on the fronts of Marib Governorate in the northeast of the country and Taiz in the southwest.”

The website added, quoting unnamed military sources, that “army forces dealt a devastating blow to the Houthis on the Balq and Zor fronts, in response to their attacks on military positions on the eastern Balq, Ukd, and Bur fronts, in the southern suburbs of Marib city (the administrative center of the governorate of the same name(“.

It indicated that the army’s operations resulted in the destruction of a Houthi artillery battery and engineering equipment in the Balq and Zor sectors, in addition to losses among the group’s militants.

According to the Yemeni army website, government forces in Taiz Governorate targeted Houthi positions on the western front of the governorate, inflicting casualties and equipment losses.

It said that army forces also destroyed heavy Houthi equipment that was used to establish fortifications and roads on the eastern front of Taiz city (the administrative center of the governorate of the same name).

The intensity of fighting is escalating on various fronts in the country between the Houthi group and the Yemeni army, amid fears of a return to war amid the faltering of the UN-sponsored peace process.
