Former IRGC Commander: Yemen Replaces Syria in Iran’s Security Doctrine

Yemen Monitor/Tehran/Special:

Hussain Allah Karam, a former commander in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has stated that Yemen has replaced Syria in Iran’s security doctrine following the fall of Bashar al-Assad in Syria.

“Simply put, Syria was the backbone and the connecting factor in the Resistance Axis and played an unparalleled role in any potential attack on the northern front of Palestine. However, within the framework of the strategic ideology, this role has now shifted to Yemen after the loss of Syria,” Karam told Iran International television.

Iran’s regional influence has waned following the fall of Bashar al-Assad in Syria and the severe blows sustained by Hezbollah over the past year.

Last week, the UN Security Council warned Iran against further escalation by the Houthis, the Tehran-allied armed group in Yemen.
