Houthi Leader Claims 106 Killed, 314 Injured in US Airstrikes in 2024
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The leader of the Houthi armed group claimed that the death toll from US and British airstrikes on the group’s positions reached 106, with approximately 314 injured during the past year, 2024.
Abdul-Malik al-Houthi stated in a televised speech on the group’s media that “the US and British airstrikes amounted to 931 raids, resulting in the death of 106 and the injury of 314.”
He also indicated that “the Israeli aggression on Thursday (last) targeted a number of civilian facilities with 22 raids, resulting in the death of 7 and the injury of 37 others.”
He said, “We are in an open war with the Israeli enemy, and we have targeted it with a very large number of missiles and drones.”
Israel launched an attack on civilian facilities in Yemen on four occasions since July 19, in response to attacks by “Ansar Allah” deep inside the occupied territories.
He continued, “Among the operations of this week is the downing of two MQ-9 aircraft in Bayda and Marib, and these aircraft are very expensive and relied upon by the Americans for reconnaissance and aggression.”
A coalition of Washington and London began in January 12, 2024, to launch missile strikes and air raids on Houthi targets, with the aim of hindering their maritime operations, which the Houthis claim are “in solidarity with Gaza.” In parallel, the Houthis have been targeting targets deep within Israel since October 2023.
