Governmental Committee Documents Over 2,000 Human Rights Violations in Yemen

The National Committee for Investigating Allegations of Human Rights Violations announced that it had documented and monitored 2,167 violations in various Yemeni governorates during 2024, affecting 12,895 individuals, including women and children.

In its report, the committee stated that it had recorded 564 incidents targeting civilians, resulting in 657 casualties, including 214 killed, of which 27 were children and 6 were women, in addition to 433 injured, including 74 children and 52 women.

The committee also documented 196 victims of landmine and explosive device explosions, 624 cases of arbitrary arrest and enforced disappearance, and 186 cases of child recruitment under the age of 15.

Other violations included the destruction of public and private property, the targeting of schools and medical facilities, and extrajudicial killings.

The report confirmed that the committee conducted 15 field visits to various areas, including Taiz, Marib, Aden, Hadramaut, and Hodeidah, to assess the human rights situation, document violations, and evaluate the conditions of prisons and detention centers, where the conditions of 3,000 prisoners and detainees in 18 locations were examined.

The committee called on all parties to take advantage of opportunities to build peace in Yemen, emphasizing the need for justice for victims and truth-telling as a prerequisite for lasting peace.
