Houthis Announce Downing of a US Drone

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Houthi armed group announced on Wednesday morning that it had downed an American drone “while carrying out hostile missions” in the airspace of Ma’rib Governorate, central Yemen, the second such incident in three days.

The group’s spokesman, Yahya Saree, said in a televised statement: “Our air defenses shot down an American MQ-9 drone while carrying out hostile missions in the airspace of Ma’rib with a locally manufactured surface-to-air missile.”

He added that this drone “is the second in 72 hours (to be downed) and the 14th during the battle of the promised victory and the holy jihad in support of Gaza” for more than a year.

He added: “We continue our operations in support of the Palestinian people, until the aggression stops and the siege on the Gaza Strip is lifted.”
