Yemen and Egypt Emphasize Joint Coordination to Secure the Red Sea

Sultan al-Arada, Deputy Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Council, stressed the importance of enhancing coordination between Yemen and Egypt to confront all current security challenges in the Red Sea and ensure the protection of vital waterways, primarily Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
This came during his meeting with the Egyptian military attaché, Brigadier General Samer Shaaban, according to the official Yemeni News Agency.
Al-Arada highlighted the strategic importance of Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the impact of any security threat to this vital waterway on the global economy and maritime navigation in the Suez Canal, among others, as it is one of the most important waterways in the world and represents a vital artery for global trade and energy movement.
He affirmed that the continued Houthi attacks on commercial and oil ships in the Red and Arabian Seas necessitates regional and international action and the taking of serious steps to ensure the stability of international trade and the continuation of maritime navigation without any threats, praising Egypt’s pivotal role in preserving the security and stability of Yemen and the region.
For his part, the Egyptian military attaché expressed his aspiration to strengthen joint cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the military and security fields, contributing to achieving mutual interests and confronting current challenges.
