Israel Announces the Downing of a Drone Launched from Yemen
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Israeli occupation army said on Wednesday evening that a drone launched from Yemen had crashed in an open area in the south of the country.
The occupation army said in a statement: “Following the alerts that were activated in the areas west of Lachish (a settlement in the northern Negev) and Gaza Strip, a drone was detected that was launched from Yemen and crashed in an open area,” without further details.
The Hebrew newspaper Maariv said that the drone crashed near the Zikim settlement (which houses an Israeli military base) south of Ashkelon, without causing any damage.
There was no immediate comment from the Houthis.
Earlier in the day, the armed group had announced that it had bombed a “military target” in the occupied city of Jaffa with a hypersonic ballistic missile, “Palestine 2”.
This came after the Broadcasting Authority announced that nine Israelis were injured early Wednesday morning in a stampede towards shelters in Tel Aviv after a missile was launched from Yemen that the Israeli occupation army claimed to have intercepted.
The Houthi group also announced in a statement on Monday evening that it had attacked two military targets in Jaffa and Ashkelon in the center of Israel using two drones.
In recent weeks, Houthi attacks with missiles and drones on Tel Aviv have escalated, amid threats from occupation officials to the Houthis of a strong response and targeting the group’s leadership.
