The Yemeni army announced on Monday that it had foiled a nighttime attack by the Houthi armed group west of Taiz, after the movement launched a similar attack the previous night.
In a brief statement, the army said: “Army forces foiled an offensive operation by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia on the air defense front northwest of Taiz city, hours after thwarting an infiltration attempt on Al-Akhtoub front in the western countryside of the governorate.”
The results of the attacks and casualties were not announced.
A military official told Yemen Monitor that the clashes with the Houthis “extend from East 40 Street (northeast of the city) and north of Osifra north of Taiz city to the vicinity of the air defense camp northwest of the city.”
He added that the intensity of the clashes subsided by midnight, with caution prevailing on most fronts.
