US Military Accidentally Shoots Down Fighter Jet Over the Red Sea
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The US military announced early Sunday morning that it had accidentally shot down one of its fighter jets over the Red Sea, forcing the pilots to eject.
US Central Command (CONTCOM) said in a statement that both pilots were rescued and one suffered minor injuries following an apparent “friendly fire” incident that is still under investigation.
The statement said that the F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet was flying over the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman. It added that one of the ships accompanying the aircraft carrier, the guided-missile cruiser Gettysburg, mistakenly fired on the jet and hit it.
