US Military Targets Houthi Command and Control in Sana’a

Yemen Monitor/Washington/Exclusive:

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday that it had targeted missile storage facilities and command and control centers belonging to the Houthi group in Yemen, following several airstrikes on the capital, Sana’a.

A statement obtained by Yemen Monitor said, ” CENTCOM forces conducted precision airstrikes against a missile storage facility and a command and control facility operated by the Iran-backed Houthi group in Houthi-controlled territory in Sana’a, Yemen, on December 21, Yemen time.”

The statement added that “the aim of the deliberate strikes is to disrupt and degrade Houthi operations, such as attacks against US Navy warships and commercial shipping in the southern Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb, and the Gulf of Aden.”

The statement noted that “during the operation, US Central Command forces also shot down multiple one-way attack unmanned aerial vehicles (OWA UAV) and an anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) over the Red Sea.”

It indicated the participation of “US Air and Naval Forces, including F/A-18 aircraft.”

Earlier, residents told Yemen Monitor that airstrikes had targeted “Attan, Nukom, and the Al-Ardhi complex,” marking the second time the Al-Ardhi complex in the Safiya district had been targeted. The complex is affiliated with the Yemeni Ministry of Defense and is believed to be used by the Houthis for military meetings.

In the Attan and Nukom areas, there are underground weapons stores that have existed for decades. The Houthis are believed to have been using them since 2014 to store weapons.
