A member of the Yemeni Presidential Council calls on the Houthis to hand-over their weapons
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Tariq Saleh, a member of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, called on the Houthi armed group to surrender their weapons “and to stop the oppression and tyranny.”
In a post on the social media platform X, Tariq Saleh affirmed that “rescuing Yemen from its external and internal conflicts requires the Houthi militia to heed the voice of the people and prioritize the interests of the country over sectarianism.”
The anti-Houthi member of the Yemeni Presidential Council urged all forces to unite to put an end to sectarian and racist agendas.
Tariq Saleh’s calls come amid intensified efforts by the internationally recognized Yemeni government to gather military and political support, alongside popular and political calls for government forces to work on restoring state institutions from Houthi control, following the ousting of the Syrian former president Bashar al-Assad and Iranian-backed forces.
