Yemeni Presidency Condemns New Israeli Aggression on Yemen, Blames Houthis
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen on Thursday condemned the new Israeli aggression against Yemeni territory, holding the Houthi group “responsible for this escalation and violation of national sovereignty.”
This came during a council meeting chaired by Rashad Al-Alimi, with the attendance of Prime Minister Ahmed bin Mubarak, Central Bank Governor Ahmed Al-Maabqi, and head of the economic team Hossam Al-Sharjabi.
According to the official Yemeni news agency, the council called on the Houthi group during the meeting “to prioritize the interests of the Yemeni people over any other interests.”
The council also received a “briefing on the Houthi terrorist attacks on maritime security, their misleading narratives to exploit the suffering of the Palestinian people, their repercussions on the living conditions of the peoples of the region, and the militarization of their regional waters.”
The meeting, attended by the Prime Minister and the Central Bank Governor, was devoted to “discussing economic and institutional performance indicators over the past period, the path of comprehensive reforms, government efforts to secure basic services and commodities, and alleviating the humanitarian situation created by the Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.”
The council also reviewed the level of implementation of its decisions and recommendations, especially those related to accelerating the implementation of the economic rescue plan, strengthening the means of protection for vulnerable social groups, improving the state’s access to its sovereign resources, combating corruption, deterring currency speculators, monitoring the prices of services and basic commodities, and supporting the independence of the central bank in managing monetary policy.
Earlier, media outlets affiliated with the Houthis reported the death of 9 people and the injury of 3 as a result of Israeli airstrikes that targeted energy infrastructure in the capital, Sana’a, and ports in the coastal city of Hodeidah, in response to a ballistic missile attack that the Houthis said targeted Tel Aviv.
Houthi media sources reported that huge explosions resulted from the airstrikes that targeted the “Haziz” and “Dhaban” central power stations south and north of Sana’a.
They added that the ports of Al-Saleef and Hodeidah were also subjected to eight airstrikes, while two airstrikes targeted Ras Issa oil station. The sources indicated that civil defense extinguished the fires at the Haziz power generation station.
Early Thursday morning, the Israeli occupation army announced that its defenses had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen before entering Israeli airspace.
This is the fifth Houthi missile to target Israel in less than two weeks, in addition to 5 drones.
