Security forces in Abyan Governorate (southern Yemen) managed to rescue a Russian citizen hours after he was kidnapped by armed elements in the Al-Ma’ajala area of Muhafad district.
The Abyan Security Directorate said in a press statement that the rescue operation came after receiving a report and gathering information about the hostage’s whereabouts, after which he was released and the kidnappers were arrested and referred for investigation to determine the motives behind the kidnap operation.
Abyan Security Directorate warned anyone who dares to tamper with the security of the governorate through such acts that violate the law, customs, and religion.
