Israeli Radio: IDF Requests Target Matrix for Houthis in Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Sana’a/Exclusive:

The Israeli military and air force have requested an operational target matrix for Yemen, with the aim of launching attacks against the Houthi armed group, according to a report by Israel’s “Kan” public broadcaster on Tuesday.

Kan reported, in a document reviewed by Yemen Monitor, that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have acknowledged the escalating attacks from Yemen, claiming they are “orchestrated by Iran.”

The report added that the Houthis are “attempting to inflict significant damage on Israeli assets such as the ports of Ashdod and Haifa, Israel Electric Corporation power plants, and gas platforms off the Israeli coast.”

It noted that “the IDF and the air force claim that it is necessary to act against the threat from Yemen, and this requires shifting intelligence focus and preparing operational matrices for this purpose.”

The Israeli occupation has previously attacked Yemen twice. In the first attack in July, it targeted the port of Hodeidah in western Yemen, as well as fuel facilities at a power plant that supplies the city with electricity. The second attack, in September, was directed against a wider range of civilian targets.
