The United Nations has appealed to donors to increase their contributions to the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF) in the coming year to address the country’s complex emergencies.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated in its latest humanitarian snapshot that there is a “critical need for more support for the humanitarian fund in 2025.”
The report added that the fund allocated a total of $36.9 million this year in response to numerous emergencies amid the ongoing and complex humanitarian crisis in the country, including food insecurity, malnutrition, disease outbreaks, floods, and economic deterioration.
OCHA explained that the allocation enabled 37 partners to provide life-saving assistance to a total of 1.2 million people.
It also “significantly contributed to strengthening localization and the role and work of local Yemeni partners, as more than 70% of the funding this year went to national and local non-governmental organizations.”
The UN office reaffirmed the YHF’s commitment to addressing the complex and interconnected humanitarian needs in the country, with a focus on leveraging local partners to make a significant difference for beneficiaries.
